Q&A: Callum & Cole Know It Takes Two to Tango Like Champions

Q&A: Callum & Cole Know It Takes Two to Tango Like Champions

Callum and Cole come together like a charmingly magical pair of mischievous wood elves, bright-eyed, with sculpted cheekbones and cloud-soft hair.

And the way they dance, as if basking in the wildly untamed glow of fireflies and twilight devilry, invites any who wander their way to enter the fray, to wonder and play, to never stray … lest they fall prey to fear-of-missing-out.

With their happy-go-lucky sincerity, their talkative enthusiasm and their bubbly zest for life, amidst the joyful alliteration the very names of Callum and Cole command — with a musicality that suits their spiritual auras — the duo tango danced their way to a 2019 XBIZ Europa Award for Male Clip Artist of the Year.

Now, see why they are who they are, how and what they have become, and where they are going forth … from this moment in their lives ... through this exclusive Clip Star of the Month interview.

XBIZ: How did you two end up meeting and getting to know each other?

C&C: We’re both from Scotland and we met when I worked in a bar almost two years ago now. The first time I saw Cole, he walked down the stairs towards the bar and I couldn’t take my eyes off of him.

Obviously, I served him and gave him his drinks for free. We got to talking from there over the next couple of weeks. He kept coming back to the bar, where we talked more and more until we started hanging out.

We went to a few parties together and every moment we spent together, the sexual tension between us was growing … until one night, outside my work, when I was drinking on the job, I’d just finished my shift and then headed outside to see Cole where he was smoking.

I don’t know what came over me, but I pulled him into a doorway next to the pub and before I knew what was happening, we started kissing. I grabbed his arse — that, by the way, felt amazing in the skinny jeans he had on — and that night I went back to his parents’ house and well, I guess the rest is history!

XBIZ: What was it like getting into business together as a camming duo?

C&C: We get asked a lot about how we started doing cam work and the honest answer was … just for fun! There was no alternative motive than simply having fun with the possibility of making money.

We didn’t realize at that time how big of an industry the adult world actually was. I think it’s fair to say that from our first stream on Chaturbate, we’ve been shown an amazing amount of support and it’s been really encouraging. It has helped us massively in our journey.

We’ve gone from streaming in Cole’s bedroom at his parents’ house with our microphone on mute because we were too scared to talk, to where we are now … almost two years down the line, in our own home. As boyfriends and business partners, traveling all over the world together, we couldn’t ask for much more.

XBIZ: Discuss your favorite platform(s) for selling clips content.

C&C: Our favorite platform for selling clips, by far, has to be ManyVids. We love how they empower individual creators to produce and sell their own content on a non-judgmental platform.

There’s loads of fun features and tools to help you maximize your income and great ways to get extra exposure, like being featured in the MV Blog and MV Mag, or taking part in the competitions they run.

XBIZ: How do you share responsibilities as co-creators in a way that maximizes each of your strengths as individuals?

C&C: This is a hard one for us to answer, because we’re still learning our own strengths and weaknesses.

We’re still relatively new to the adult industry, so we’re constantly learning new things about the business too.

I guess the key thing for us, is that we always work as a team and support each other in whatever way we can.

XBIZ: Talk about your approach to balancing your personal and professional lives.

C&C: Balancing our professional lives and our personal lives was a struggle at first, but we slowly got there.

Being intimate together off camera is so important and we always make sure we have our own time for that.

We love sharing as much as we can, but being able to keep a little to ourselves is important … and usually when things are the wildest!

XBIZ: What other revenue steams do you pursue, independently or together, besides clips?

C&C: We use a number of platforms. We stream live from Chaturbate, and that’s where we started before making Twitter a few weeks later.

We then started to post our homemade content to ManyVids after we had a few videos, started OnlyFans as a subscription platform and have recently started to use JustFor.fans.

Also, we release free content to PornHub, through which we create revenue per views.

XBIZ: Describe your marketing strategies for building a social media following and keeping fans engaged.

C&C: We think the best marketing strategy is to be yourself, and what we think has worked for us is that our posts are just things we enjoy doing in the moment.

If we think something’s hot, then we will share it … and if other people enjoy it too, then that’s just a bonus. And for us, it seems they do!

So, we decided not to make a strategy and just continue to upload the kind of thing we would actually want to see from each other.

XBIZ: What was it like participating in XBIZ Berlin this year?

C&C: Participating in XBIZ Berlin this year for us was an amazing experience. It was our first time at any XBIZ event and first time doing anything like this outside of the U.K.

Just being able to mix with others in the same industry was great. We met so many like-minded individuals and made new friends. We didn’t want it to end!

XBIZ: And how was it winning Male Clip Artist of the Year at the XBIZ Europa Awards?

C&C: The first few minutes after winning were a blur. It was totally unexpected. We were in shock realizing the support people had given us to enable us to stand on that stage and collect the award.

It was crazy and a little overhyping in the best way possible. We’d just like to take this opportunity to thank every single person who voted for us, who continues to show us support on our journey.

XBIZ: Any ambitious plans for 2020?

C&C: We feel like 2020 is going to be our year! We plan to build on what we’re already doing, and continue to produce and push out new hot content the best we can.

We’re currently working on our own website, CallumAndCole.com, but that’s all we’re going to say right now. Besides, we can’t wait to show it to you all later in the year!
